Admissions Policy

Children are admitted in the September of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls. Parents of children who are starting school are invited into school towards the end of the Summer term. Invitation is by letter. The standard admission number for the school is 20. If there are more applicants than places available, Oldham LA’s criteria for admission will be used. Parents whose children are not offered places have the right of appeal.

Woodhouses is a Primary school which caters for the education of children between the ages of 4 and 11. Woodhouses is a Voluntary Controlled School which means that it is maintained by the Local Authority but has Foundation Governors from both the Anglican and Free Churches.

There are 5 mixed age classes. Two classes cater for the three year infant age range  -Reception, Year 1, Year 2 (Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1) and three classes for the four year junior age range Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6 (Key Stage 2).

 

Class 1 – 20 Reception and 10 Year 1 children

Class 2 – 10 Year 1 and 20 Year 2 children

Class 3 – 20 Year 3 and some Year 4 children - approx 26 children in total

Class 4 – some Year 4 and some Year 5 children- approx 26 children in total

Class 5 - someYear 5 and 20 Year 6 children approx 28 children

Any prospective parents are welcome to visit the school by prior arrangement with a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
