QUOTE OF THE DAY

Good morning Turing Class!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

See the table below for today’s learning.

Just a reminder that it is really important that you continue to read and practise the timetables every day. I know this is not in the table but this must be done daily.

Remember if you don’t have a home learning pack you will need to complete the work in your own notebook or on a piece of paper.

If you have any learning-related questions email me on turing.woodhouses@gmail.com. You can also send me pictures of your learning or things you have been doing whilst at home – I will be putting these on the website.

Maths

LI: Positive and negative numbers.

Write the date, Roman numeral date and the LI in your maths home learning book (or on paper if you do not have a home learning pack).

Today, you will be revisiting positive and negative numbers.

Positive numbers are all the numbers that come after 0.

Negative numbers are all the numbers that come before 0.

ACTIVITY

Read through the PowerPoint and watch the video on the link below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/znwj6sg/articles/zxthnbk

Once you have read through the PowerPoint and watched the video, answer the questions from either the red, blue or gold worksheet (you know which one to choose).

Literacy

LI: To revise brackets to punctuate parenthesis.

Write the long date and LI in your literacy home learning book.

Parenthesis adds extra information to a sentence. The sentence will make sense with or without the parenthesis. Parenthesis can be punctuated with:

brackets ( )

dashes –

commas , ,

Today, you are going to focus on brackets  ( )

Remember – parenthesis adds extra information to a sentence. The sentence will make sense with or without the parenthesis.

Example

Sentence without parenthesis

My teacher has been setting home learning.

Sentence with parenthesis

My teacher (who is called Mrs Harvey) has been setting home learning.

ACTIVITY

Answer the questions from the red, blue or gold worksheet (found in the resource section) in your books.

Spellings

Task 1:

Ask an adult to test you on the spellings from the last week. If you get any wrong, write the word/s three times and put it in a sentence.

Task 2:

Spellings for this week to be put in your spelling book and practised as normal are:

The spellings this week are words that end in the suffix ‘ably’.

If the root word ends in ‘e’ then it is removed before adding ‘ably’.

If the root word ends in a consonant that ‘ably’ is added straight to the end.

Task 3:

Write the definitions for all the spellings either in your spellings book or at the back of your literacy home learning book.

PSHE

Today, you are going to focus on the word WELLBEING.

Go through the PowerPoint and complete the activities on the slides.

You do not need to write anything down for this lesson.

PE

Today’s PE is for you create your own fitness session similar to PE with Joe.

You can either write your fitness session on your own paper and decorate it or you can write it in the back of your literacy home learning book.

I would love to see them so send them to the class email. I might even give them a go!

You can also do the PE with Joe session by clicking on the link below if you wish.
