In this lesson, we will be revealing the character of the unlucky man

through the thoughts and feelings of other characters.

In this lesson, you will practise giving and following directions,

using the vocabulary around position.



To consider the nature of 'equal groups' in more detail.  

Today we will be carrying on looking at equal groups in more detail.



To know what material is best for different objects

In today's lesson, we will be learning about the properties of different materials. We will also learn about why different materials are used for certain purposes.

You will need pencil and paper.


Why do we change materials?

Today, we will learning about why we change materials. You will be learning about how we may use raw materials to turn into synthetic materials, and think about how these properties are different from start to end.


In this lesson, we will be learning about how to keep calm and carry on. We will be looking at how certain objects or materials can help us to feel calm. You will then make a happiness box with these materials.

We will start today with listening to a news report.

In this lesson you will learn the properties and names of 3D shapes.


The use of repeated addition and expression to represent equal groups. 

In today's lesson we will practise using the language we have learnt about describing equal groups of things. We will also use numbers and symbols to represent equal groups.


What is an ocean?

Today is our first lesson in Ocean and Seas. We will learn about 5 Oceans on earth and the location of them in relation to the 7 continents. We will be ordering them in size and discussing why the oceans are always in motion.

Spellings practise: Write a sentence using 5 of your spellings this week. 

Literacy - 

We have decided to continue with our newspaper report writing after half term. Instead, we thought it might be fun to learn the true story of Saint Valentine. There is a powerpoint in the RE folder, and some story sequencing cards to help you retell the story. You could write an acrostic poem using the word Valentine. 

Year 2 could use their spellings for this week in their writing to make it even better!

Maths - 

To describe and classify 3D shapes.

In this lesson you will continue to learn how to describe the properties of shapes and how to sort them (classify them) into groups based on their properties.


To see a repeated expression first and then make groups to match.

In today's lesson, we are going to carry on working on repeated addition expressions.


To identify tempo and learn some terminology around it. 

Today, we will be learning the musical terminology for tempo and how to identify fast and slow music.

You could bubble or robot write words/put words into sentences/read, cover, write and check. 

Literacy- Chinese New Year is being celebrated today, so it would be good to learn all about the event, and how it is celebrated. There is a poetry template in the topic file, along with powerpoints to explain all about it and/or you could watch the newsround video

You could write a story,  a poem, or draw a decide!
