In this lesson, you will build upon our understanding of the whole and parts of a whole. We will explore the ideas around equal and unequal parts, using drawings and practical resources to help and support us.
We will begin by discussing how fractions are equal parts and then we will practise splitting shapes into equal parts. Next we will incorporate numbers, using diagrams to help us to split numbers. We will look at how our times tables will help us to do this.
Task 1 - Identify how many equal parts the shapes have been split into
Task 2 - Explore equal and unequal parts - Investigate splitting 12 beanbags into equal parts. Can you investigate how many equal parts that you can split 24 bean bags in to?
In this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences.
We will begin the lesson by revising the meanings of synonym, word pair, adjective and noun. We will then look at synonyms and word pairs for 3 adjectives that are to do with food - wholesome, hearty and sumptuous. We will learn about which sentences are a good fit for each of our words.
Your task - Look at the 3 food words that we have learnt about in todays lesson. Can you create some different word pairs for each of our key words? Write a sentence for each word pair.
In this lesson, we will learn about what is important in a healthy diet. We will discuss the seven nutrients we need to know as well as their role in the body.
