We started the day by welcoming our families into school to read with their child(ren). This was a perfect start to the day to welcome our families into our classrooms. The children then listened to 8 different stories/ poems in their family groups and completed some fun activities- all whilst dressed in our super cosy pyjamas! We had such a wonderful day celebrating the joy of reading! 

Poetry Focus- An Emotional Menagerie

We looked at some poetry about feelings. We listened carefully to poems about Anger, Boredom and Curiosity and how animals were portrayed to display this feeling. We then predicted which animal might represent happiness and we designed and described an animal which made us think of happiness. We then listened to the poem about happiness and compared our ideas with the author's ideas! The children were very creative!
